Today we salute the many women who are mothers, sisters, friends, coworkers and so much more. Today is your day to stand tall and be proud of all the challenges, accomplishments and things to come.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of celebrating International Women’s Day a day early at the Tastemakers Magazine Tweetup featuring Sophia Nelson. If you don’t know who Sophia Nelson is then you need to find out after you read this post.
She is the author of “Black Women Redefined” and an “accomplished business woman on the move”. We were blessed with her presence and words of wisdom focused on why we need to redefine ourselves. This book is not just for black women but for all women. Still in 2012, women are discriminated and stereotyped into categories that are not befitting to us as a whole. We are pushed around and forced to play by rules that were not designed for us to win.
I left the Tweetup with my head held high reclaiming my power and prestige as a woman! I was surrounded bypowerful and and courageous women that helped confirm that we are not only beautiful but worthy of all our accomplishments.
