What Inspired You to Go Into Business?

I’m inspired by the single mother able to provide for her children through her business, the strong independent single woman with her sights set on being a award winning enterprise, the business owner that wants to break free from the corporate world to do what they love. I’ve owned several other businesses in the past, and no matter what business I was in I ended up helping small business owners to be effective in marketing and growing their business. I have a passion for helping people, a natural ability to connect in meaningful ways so I finally decided to turn what I had already been doing into a thriving business. Read More

Our December Community Action Award goes to Kia Smith of Atlanta Diaper Relief Organization.

What is Atlanta Diaper Relief Organization?

Atlanta Diaper Relief, a 501(c3), non-profit organization dedicated to distributing diapers to poor families in need in Douglas, Cobb and Fulton counties.

We are a diaper bank and through our diaper drives we collect diapers to low-income families in need with help from our partner agencies.

We will also ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers; and raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty.

I am proud of this mission and know that I can move mountains and eventually help thousands of families who really need us. Our motto is “We relieve babies, starting from the bottom.”

Since May, we have collected over 15,000 diapers through various diaper drives and donations. And on Wednesday August 31st, on behalf of Ronnie and Lamar Tyler and Pampers, we were awarded a one year supply of diapers for the diaper bank. This was a major accomplishment for us. Read More

My umbrella business, Correlations which stands for communication and relationships trains small business owners on essential soft skills such as marketing, public relations, public speaking and event planning.

My business actually started in my mother’s kitchen right after I graduated from college. I wanted to teach but I knew I wanted to do it on my own terms.

From Correlations, my new venture Helena’s Planners has emergedfrom a national 2 Day Event Planning Certificate Course I teach.  Students wanted more training and more resources related to event planning and they literally wanted to see me in action so I decided to launch Helena’s Planners Summer 2011. Tiffany Carter, Owner Tiffany Christine

What started out as a hobby soon turned into a profitable business for Tiffany Carter. Tiffany Carter currently works in corporate America and excels as a sought after Human Resource Consultant. By day she works for a major Fortune 500 company but by night she is busy creating her collections for the next upcoming season. Although, she has mastered her craft in the working world, Tiffany found a love for jewelry making in 2003. After a few attempts at creating jewelry for family and friends, she found her niche for creating necklaces, earrings and more with semi-precious stones and an assortment of metals. Her one-of- a- kind pieces can be found in several boutiques in Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX and Chicago, IL.

Tiffany frequently travels across the US and works with international contacts to find high quality & unique precious metals, semi-precious stones and gems in an effort to ensure that her pieces are creative and stand out among other jeweled creations.

Ultimately, Tiffany would like to open a boutique which will offer her unique jewelry, strands of semi-precious stones & gems, various types of glass artistry & other beads in the Metro Atlanta area.  For now, Tiffany continues to look for creative outlets to market her jewelry.
