It’s International Women’s Day
Today we salute the many women who are mothers, sisters, friends, coworkers and so much more. Today is your day to stand tall and be proud of all the challenges, accomplishments and things to come.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of celebrating International Women’s Day a day early at the Tastemakers Magazine Tweetup featuring Sophia Nelson. If you don’t know who Sophia Nelson is then you need to find out after you read this post.
She is the author of “Black Women Redefined” and an “accomplished business woman on the move”. We were blessed with her presence and words of wisdom focused on why we need to redefine ourselves. This book is not just for black women but for all women. Still in 2012, women are discriminated and stereotyped into categories that are not befitting to us as a whole. We are pushed around and forced to play by rules that were not designed for us to win.
I left the Tweetup with my head held high reclaiming my power and prestige as a woman! I was surrounded by powerful and and courageous women that helped confirm that we are not only beautiful but worthy of all our accomplishments.
Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit Recap
Monday, February 27th, 2012
Where can you go and see over 800 African America women networking, learning and celebrating their accomplishments?
Where can you attend sessions on leadership and entrepreneurship from Vera Moore, Beverly Johnson and Amsale Aberra? This can only happen at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit.
I am still on a high from the 7th Annual Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. I have been trying to figure out how to bottle up my experience in a few words and decided to give you a list of my highlights from the conference. I promise this is an event you do not want to miss next year. See you soon.
1. Being Empowered
I have been too many different conferences but I tell you being at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Conference I feel so empowered and motivated to work even harder for my mission. There is nothing like seeing so many women of color from different backgrounds in one place.
2. Leadership Sessions
The breakout sessions were GREAT. I learned from Anita Hill on her struggle to bring Sexual Harassment awareness to all, Valorie Burton that lead the session on “9 Habits that Make You Happier, Healthier & Resilient” and from my favorite Sundra Ryce of SLR Contracting in the session on Risk Takes & Rule Breakers. I have so many notes and highlights that I learned from these sessions.

What Inspired You to Go Into Business?
I’m inspired by the single mother able to provide for her children through her business, the strong independent single woman with her sights set on being a award winning enterprise, the business owner that wants to break free from the corporate world to do what they love. I’ve owned several other businesses in the past, and no matter what business I was in I ended up helping small business owners to be effective in marketing and growing their business. I have a passion for helping people, a natural ability to connect in meaningful ways so I finally decided to turn what I had already been doing into a thriving business. Read More

What is Atlanta Diaper Relief Organization?
Atlanta Diaper Relief, a 501(c3), non-profit organization dedicated to distributing diapers to poor families in need in Douglas, Cobb and Fulton counties.
We are a diaper bank and through our diaper drives we collect diapers to low-income families in need with help from our partner agencies.
We will also ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers; and raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty.
I am proud of this mission and know that I can move mountains and eventually help thousands of families who really need us. Our motto is “We relieve babies, starting from the bottom.”
Since May, we have collected over 15,000 diapers through various diaper drives and donations. And on Wednesday August 31st, on behalf of Ronnie and Lamar Tyler and Pampers, we were awarded a one year supply of diapers for the diaper bank. This was a major accomplishment for us. Read More

Hello World! The PinkBoss is Here!
Saturday, December 18th, 2010Being a business owner can get overwhelming at times. I am a new wife and mother and there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. I searched high and low for a resources to keep me motivated during the hard times in my business and personal life. Unfortunately, I could not find anything to fit my needs.
When deciding what direction I would take in 2011, I noticed that there were no resources for women like myself. I am an entrepreneur at heart and I pride myself in being a resource for other female business owners. And just like that the light bulb clicked and I knew what had to be done. I have operated a successful small business company for the past 4 years and decided I would use my experience to create The Pink Boss!
The PinkBoss is a full service business boutique that will offer business consulting, accountability partnership programs and business start up and management services. The PinkBoss will be the answer to the overwhelming journey of entrepreneurship. We will teach women to create and grow their business through one on one sessions and our signature Pink Plan. The Pink Plan is a 12 month action plan to help our clients stay on track with achieving their personal and financial goals through their business. I am very excited to launch The PinkBoss and I hope you will join me in this celebration. We will officially launch in January 2011. Stay tuned for the launch party location and time. Hope to see you there.
