Get out and find your clients.

They will not fall from the trees.

You have to be proactive in lead generation for your business. Join member association groups, attend networking events or host a networking event of your own. Whatever you do you have to go out and get your clients. If you build it, they will not come without direction.

Daily Deals for Your Business

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012
Before I decide what’s for dinner I turn to my handy Groupon, Half Off Depot and Living Social Apps. The  ”Deal Site” craze has taken over and has forced us to rethink the idea of paying full price for restaurants and yoga classes.
Just as you search for the best dining deals you now have the opportunity to search for daily deals for your small business. Here are a few deal sites that I have recently found. Happy Shopping!
1. GroupPrice Recently named Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 100 BrilliantCompanies of 2011. GroupPrice offers B2B deals focused on software and services to help small businesses

2. Rapidbuyr Another great deal site focusing on B2B services offering up to 80% discounts for you to enjoy.
3. Bizy Started in Chicago in March 2011, Bizy offers 50% off business services to assist with the cost of business operations.

Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit Recap

Monday, February 27th, 2012
Where can you go and see over 800 African America women networking, learning and celebrating their accomplishments?
Where can you attend sessions on leadership and entrepreneurship from Vera Moore, Beverly Johnson and Amsale Aberra? This can only happen at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit.

Sophia Nelson & I

I am still on a high from the 7th Annual Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. I have been trying to figure out how to bottle up my experience in a few words and decided to give you a list of my highlights from the conference.  I promise this is an event you do not want to miss next year. See you soon.
1. Being Empowered
I have been too many different conferences but I tell you being at the Black Enterprise Women of Power Conference I feel so empowered and motivated to work even harder for my mission.  There is nothing like seeing so many women of color from different backgrounds in one place.

Marve Frazier, CEO Bossip.com & Madame Noire (I was seriously smiling)

2. Leadership Sessions
The breakout sessions were GREAT. I learned from  Anita Hill on her struggle to bring Sexual Harassment awareness to all, Valorie Burton that lead the session on “9 Habits that Make You Happier, Healthier & Resilient” and from my favorite Sundra Ryce of SLR Contracting in the session on Risk Takes & Rule Breakers. I have so many notes and highlights that I learned from these sessions.

What Inspired You to Go Into Business?

I’m inspired by the single mother able to provide for her children through her business, the strong independent single woman with her sights set on being a award winning enterprise, the business owner that wants to break free from the corporate world to do what they love. I’ve owned several other businesses in the past, and no matter what business I was in I ended up helping small business owners to be effective in marketing and growing their business. I have a passion for helping people, a natural ability to connect in meaningful ways so I finally decided to turn what I had already been doing into a thriving business. Read More

December 2011 Community Action Award

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Our December Community Action Award goes to Kia Smith of Atlanta Diaper Relief Organization.

What is Atlanta Diaper Relief Organization?

Atlanta Diaper Relief, a 501(c3), non-profit organization dedicated to distributing diapers to poor families in need in Douglas, Cobb and Fulton counties.

We are a diaper bank and through our diaper drives we collect diapers to low-income families in need with help from our partner agencies.

We will also ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers; and raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty.

I am proud of this mission and know that I can move mountains and eventually help thousands of families who really need us. Our motto is “We relieve babies, starting from the bottom.”

Since May, we have collected over 15,000 diapers through various diaper drives and donations. And on Wednesday August 31st, on behalf of Ronnie and Lamar Tyler and Pampers, we were awarded a one year supply of diapers for the diaper bank. This was a major accomplishment for us. Read More

Being Thankful

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Being ThankfulAs 2011 comes to an end and we celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, I am reminded of all the blessings I have received throughout the year.

With the grind of everyday living it is easy to move from day to day without truly appreciating your accomplishments. Life situations happen to us both good and bad but in all that we go through we need to be thankful for the lessons to be learned.  I decided to create a list of things I was thankful for to remind myself just how blessed I really am.
